When the Grocery Manufacturers Association faced a state law that threatened the entire industry: mandatory labelling of genetically modified products, PLUS stepped in to launch a national awareness campaign to show consumers and lawmakers the disastrous consequences such a law would have. Our work resulted in President Obama signing a bill into law that preempted the state law and was a finalist for PRWeek’s “Best in Public Affairs.”
One of FWD.us’ core missions has been to overhaul the United State’s outdated immigration system. For the past several years, PLUS has led FWD.us’ fight for comprehensive immigration reform, managing more than 20 state campaigns and being named a finalist for PRWeek’s “Best for a Cause” award.
When deep-pocketed investors in the casino industry planned to pour $35 million into a campaign to pass a New Jersey ballot question to expand casino gaming, PLUS Communications launched a comprehensive grassroots, advertising and awareness effort to defeat the measure. Our efforts led to New Jersey voters rejecting the ballot measure by the largest margin in New Jersey history.
In an attempt to battle the meth crisis, many states across the country tried to enact laws that focused on punishing honest consumers rather than criminals. Over the last seven years, PLUS has successfully defeated dozens of restrictive laws and passed many favorable alternatives.
TAMKO has been based in Joplin, MO for more than 70 years, and when the company set out to educate the community about TAMKO’s important contributions, they called on PLUS to lead the effort. For two years, we developed a series of personal and emotional advertisements that captured the essence of a family owned business that has grown into the largest independent roofing and building products business in the United States.
PLUS is proud to have been the media consultant to Ohioans Against the Deceptive Rx Ballot Issue, a coalition of over 80 statewide groups in Ohio organized by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) to defeat Issue Two.
